Coneflower

A bright flowering perennial herb with dark pink flowers on long stems, blooming in early to mid-summer. Known as purple coneflower, but can also be found in a white-flowering variety.  This is a beautiful, easy to grow native with medicinal benefits. Attracts butterflies. Will reseed.

Creeping Phlox, ‘Amazing Grace’

A fast-growing evergreen perennial with little pink flowers that bloom in spring. Attract butterflies.

Daffodil, Dutch Master

A classic golden yellow mid spring bloomer, great for naturalizing.

Daylily

Drought tolerant, herbaceous, blooms from May to frost, attracts butterflies. Flowers are edible. ‘Big Time Happy’ variety has 4″ yellow flowers and slightly ruffled petals. ‘Little Business’ is a dwarf variety, growing only 16″ tall, with flower stalks up to 18″. Flowers are raspberry-red, blooming in summer.

Dutchman’s Pipe Vine

A trailing, ground-cover perennial; dies down to the ground in winter and returns in spring from tuberous roots. Attracts butterflies and is a food source for Pipevine Swallowtail butterfly caterpillars, who will eat the plant down to the stems several times over the growing season, but it will rejuvenate within a few weeks.

Fall Aster

A mounding, bushy perennial covered in showy purple flowers from September through the first frost, attractive to bees and butterflies.

Flame Acanthus

Also known as hummingbird bush due to the profuse fiery red blooms that attract hummingbirds and also butterflies (larval host for Texas crescentspot). Blooms July through fall. Tolerant of hot and dry conditions once established.

Four-Nerve Daisy

A low-growing, upright evergreen native perennial with a woody base and long-lasting bright yellow flowers atop leafless stalks. Under ideal growing conditions, can flower almost year-round and will reseed to cover an open area. Attracts butterflies.

Gaura

Also known as Whirling Butterflies. An airy plant with white or pink flowers blooming atop long stem late spring through fall. Attracts butterflies and pollinating insects. Semi-evergreen. Makes excellent cut flowers.

Goldenrod

A tall, perennial herb that forms large clumps. Beautiful, spikes of yellow flowers bloom in late summer and fall. Attracts a variety of beneficial insects, including monarch butterflies.
