Mexican Mint Marigold Tagetes lucida
A compact perennial with yellow-gold flowers in summer through late fall, peaking in fall. Attracts butterflies. Also known as Texas tarragon.
Size: 1-2' tall x 18" wide
Growing Requirements
Full Sun, Light Shade
Tolerates poor soil but must be well-drained. Drought tolerant once established.
Culture & Care
Best with a deep weekly watering. Divide clumps every 2-3 years. Prune in summer for more compact size; trim back by 1/3 if withered in heat.
Harvest
Harvest anise tasting leaves for French tarragon substitute (but use judiciously since it has a more pronounced flavor) or for medicinal tea.
