Cilantro/Coriander Coriandrum sativum
Cool season annual. Cilantro is the plant and coriander is the seed. Blossoms are attractive to bees and other beneficial insects.

Growing Requirements
Full Sun, Light Shade
Best in healthy, well-drained soil with moderate water and fertility.
When to Plant
In spring, sow outside 1-2 weeks before average last frost. Sow again when weather starts to cool in early fall. Successive sowings can be made every 2-3 weeks until 4 weeks before first fall frost. USDA zone 8 and warmer, sow in fall for winter harvest. Can also be planted late winter.

Spray with garlic-pepper tea to repel garden flea hoppers.
Companion Planting
- Good for repelling aphids, spider mites, and potato beetles. Make a coriander tea to spray for spider mites.
- A good companion for anise to help it germinate.

Harvest foliage at any time.
Seed Saving & Propagation
Harvest seeds after they start to turn brown, the outer coat cracks, and before they drop. Cut stem and place in paper bag to collect seeds. Rubbing the seeds will cause outer shell to drop off. Store seeds with bay leaves to ward off weevils.
Uses
Seeds can be eaten raw. Foliage is used fresh.
