Chives
A hardy edible perennial. Onion chives (Allium schoenoprasum) have round leaves with pink or purple flowers in spring through early summer. Garlic chives (Allium tuberosum) are flat leaved with white flowers in late summer.

Culture & Care
Divide clumps after 4-5 years.
Troubleshooting
Garlic chives especially will spread if allowed to seed. Snip flower heads to prevent reseeding. Wet soils may cause root disease.
Harvest
Pinch off at base.
Uses
Leaves and flowers are edible. Use fresh or dry (though this will diminish flavor). To preserve nutrients, best used raw.
